News about the GLBT Affinity Group and local YMCA stories and news important to the GLBT community of YMCA staff and volunteers!

At the May 29th National Board Committee on Diversity and Inclusion, Richard Clegg, GLBT Affinity Group Chair remarked about the progress of newly formed and official affinity group of the YMCA of the USA.  Much discussion was centered on the presence and communication of the GLBT Affinity Group and all AGs (Affinity Groups) to the movement.  Gussie Monks, Manager of Inclusion from the YMCA of the USA will be implementing a communications and promotion strategy that will lift the awareness of all AGs.

On June 30th, the YMCA of the USA celebrated PRIDE Month by hosting a Lunch and Learn Series.  Personal Stories were read from members of the GLBT community, GLBT affinity group members as well as allies and advocates.  Kent Johnson, COO of the YMCA of the USA, opened the event.  Read Kent's opening remarks by clicking here.
