Thanks for visiting us.  Please spend some time browsing our web site and the pages full of information and resources.

Whether you're a GLBT (gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered or queer, questioning, intersex) exploring this web site, a YMCA staff member or policy volunteer looking for resources to help move your YMCA to be more inclusive, we have one word for you: Welcome!

Listen to the first national call and presentation that was held on January 20, 2010.  More than 73 percent of the registered GLBT Affinity Group members were on the first national call for members.  Highlights of the call included the introduction of Chuck Collins, CEO of the YMCA of San Francisco as the GLBT AG Executive Champion, updates from our standing committees and strategies how the AG will continue to unfold the work so that the YMCA movement is an inclusive movement for all.

To listen to the presentation, click on the link below or copy and paste into your web browser.  You may wish to move the time cursor of your media program forward at least four (4) minutes as we experienced some technical difficulties on the call (not too exciting to listen to!).

GLBT Affinity Group, A National Leadership and Resource Network

Organized in 2006, a number of GLBT YMCA professionals and YMCA policy volunteers set out to increase the awareness about the issues confronting gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered YMCA staff and volunteer leaders in the YMCA.

Currently the steering committee has plans to focus on the following three areas: (1) developing a support network for GLBT YMCA staff and volunteers, (2) increasing the education and awareness of the movement on GLBT issues so we can be more inclusive rather than exclusive, and (3) providing mentoring opportunities for YMCA staff who are GLBT.

For more information about the work of this group or how you might become involved, please click on the "Get Involved, Join!" link on the left of this screen.

We're glad you're here.
